Partnerships - Conferences - Mentoring
Summer Experiences - Scholarships

  1. Partnerships. Educators from 46 Connecticut and Westchester County public, private and parochial high schools nominate high potential, multicultural students to participate in AMBYESE programs. We work together with various corporations to bring our students greater exposure to the professional world. This exposure motivates our students to do well in school and pursue a college education. The 2006-07 school year will bring an additional opportunity for students gifted in the area of Cinema Arts as AMBYESE and ABC/Walt Disney Studios team up to mentor these talented high school artists as well as finance both a student project and his or her school's videography program. For more information about this opportunity, please go to "forms" and click on "Cinema Arts Application Form." Applications will be accepted until October 1st, 2005. Top

  2. Conferences. For 20 years, AMBYESE has sponsored The Annual Educational Conference for 200 to 650 multicultural students at no charge to all its participating schools. The Conference is always held on Veteran's Day weekend beginning with The Awards Program on Friday evening and followed by the Annual Educational Conference on Saturday. The Conference provides an opportunity for students to learn about the college admissions process, fields of study and interface with people in various fields of business, science and technology. Following a group orientation, students convene in small groups with corporate mentors. Mentors are chosen from the companies that sponsor our organization. As a result of these small group discussions, mentors and students connect, developing a year long mentor relationship--one that often continues for years to come! Top

  3. Mentoring. Student Tracking and Academic Fulfillment Force (STAFF). STAFF's role is to understand and coordinate the needs of its participating students. STAFF maintains year-round contact with the students, their parents, and the faculty members of the student's schools. Top

  4. Summer Experiences. Y. E. S. I CAN Summer College Prep Program. This program is a free, three-week academic summer program held in August at University of Connecticut/Stamford. Students are identified by guidance counselors and/or teachers at their respective schools. During the three-week period students are tutored in various communication skills including writing, public speaking, and business etiquette. In addition to this, we help students prepare for the Scholastic Achievement test--better known as the "SAT". Students will improve both their verbal and math SAT scores by the end of the three weeks. We believe that improving communication skills as well as preparing for the SAT are vital components to a successful college experience. We also take students on several field trips, meeting with corporate executives and government officials. The Y.E.S., I Can program is highly competitive and is limited to 25 students. This year our 2005 program is scheduled to take place at UConn/Stamford from August 8th through August 27th. Top

  5. Scholarships. Currently AMBYESE Mentors work with students and their families to find scholarship money through various organizations and college programs. Top
